On Tuesday 18 March 2008, Carmen Squillante will be at the Stirling Italian Society.
“The Early Italian Families in Stirling” An illustrated talk by Michael Gainnadrea. Michael traces the arrival of the first Italians in Stirling as they worked hard to set up in business while integrating with the local community.
This will be followed by a short talk by author Carmen Squillante, brought up in an Irish-Italian family on Long Island and now living locally. “Flotsam is the Stuff that Floats” is her debut novel, a compelling story about the dynamics of an Italian family living in an American coastal community.”

The first books from the National Prizewinners for the ‘Discovered Authors Competition 2005’ will be launched on Thursday 19 October 2006. It’s an opportunity for all the regional winners, including Carmen, to gather for a celebration party at John Murray publishers in Mayfair, London. Carmen’s prizewinning novel ‘Flotsam is the stuff that floats’ will be published early in 2007.
